BE STRONG STAY STRONG - PART 2
It’s easy to BE STRONG and STAY STRONG, when everything is going great. Our greatest challenge is to BE STRONG and STAY STRONG, when life isn’t going great. Often times, it isn’t ONE thing, it’s sometimes a multiplicity of things.
· Relational challenges
· Financial challenges
· Health challenges
When we face personal challenges it is difficult enough, but when people we love face challenges, it can add to our load. When people you love are going through tough times, empathy usually ensures a degree of shared burden. There are some loads we are built to carry and some that we are not. God encourages us in His Word to cast our cares upon Him, because He cares for us. We can help share the load with family and friends, when we know that God can take all of these cares upon Him.
Most times, we don’t anticipate ‘coming to the end of ourselves’. More often than not, we tend to take on more and more, until we can’t move, or breathe. However, the Bible has an interesting perspective on ‘coming to the end of ourselves’ that is incredible!
The good news is, when we come to the end of ourselves, we are in line for a MIRACLE!
Matthew chapter 5, verses 3-16 (The Message) says,
“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope.
With less of you there is more of God and his rule.
“You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you.
Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.
“You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.
“You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God.
He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.
“You’re blessed when you care.
At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for.
“You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.
“You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.
“You’re blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution.
The persecution drives you even deeper into God’s kingdom.
“Not only that—count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give a cheer, even!—for though they don’t like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.
The good news is, no matter what’s happening in our lives, we are BLESSED when we need God! His strength is made perfect in our weakness. God is the One who enables and empowers us to BE STRONG and STAY STRONG. Not because we are naturally strong, clever or disciplined, but because He created us for an incredible relationship with Him. Father God wants you to know you are not alone and He is always with you to help you BE STRONG and STAY STRONG.
For us to “BE STRONG and STAY STRONG”, we need to learn how to FIGHT! We need to learn how to fight for each other, not with each other.
