EVERGREEN FAITH - PART 2
Happy New Year!
It seems like yesterday we were Christmas feasting with family and friends. I do love how we go from one celebration to another. From one special occasion to another.
Now its a Brand New Year! Full of possibilities, full potential, and full of life! Next thing we know, it will be Valentine’s Day, followed by Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, July 4, etc…
Right now the season for us in the northern hemisphere is Winter, but be assured that spring is coming, as is Summer, and Fall. Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall. God, in His infinite wisdom designed all four seasons and I believe we can learn many great life lessons from observing these natural seasons, and applying them to our lives.
God gave us seasons for a reason. The word “season” means to “acclimatize”. This tells us that every season is meant to prepare us for the next.
Father God wants us to acclimate, mature, be trained, toughen, strengthen, prepare and qualify. After all, we were born on purpose for His purpose!
Regardless of the season, God wants to produce in us, EVERGREEN FAITH!
We need wisdom to read the season we are in, so we can effectively live the season we are in. We need to know the importance of maximizing our season, whatever the weather! We need to remember Who is constant so we can live by EVERGREEN FAITH. In good times or tough times. In high lights and low lights. In summer and winter. We can live by EVERGREEN FAITH.
Strong's Bible Concordance tells us that the word “FAITH” means:
“FAITH” is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. FAITH for the believer is "God's divine persuasion" – and therefore distinct from human belief and confidence, yet still involves it. The Lord continuously births FAITH in the yielded believer so they can know what He prefers. For example, the persuasion of His will, over ours. His best, over ours.”
It may be winter here in the northern hemisphere, but it is summer in the southern hemisphere. When we are going through a WINTER season, others are going through SUMMER. When we are going through SUMMER, others are going through WINTER.
I do love summer! I would love summer to be all year round. It is a little like that in Southern California, so no complaints from me! But hey, winter is a Bible word. We are promised all seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter.
Best we embrace winter in all her bare, cold, ruthless, unremitting glory. Unless we do so, we will not appreciate the bounty of spring. New life, new everything!
I truly love the thought of EVERGREEN FAITH!
I’m not at all a gardening person, but I do have some “greenie-thumb” friend. I asked them to help me understand more about evergreens. An “evergreen” tree is one that doesn’t lose leaves seasonally. A “deciduous” tree however, is one that does shed its leaves seasonally. Interestingly though, even “deciduous” trees shed intentionally. In fact, they take an active part in the shedding process, rather than just waiting for a good wind to come along. Their leaves contain cells that act like scissors, cutting them off from the main part of the tree in fall. The cut is then closed. As a result, the winter’s cold is sealed out, while precious water is sealed in.
There is no wastage in God’s creation!
Regardless of the season, Father GOD wants produce “EVERGREEN FAITH” in us. Everything that happens to us in life is either God sent or God used. God is good and He can only do good, so anything that comes our way that isn’t good, isn’t from God. However, He can use anything and everything to be turned around in our lives.
Romans chapter eight, verse twenty-eight says,
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
